Wednesday Writing Challenge Week 2: #19.
Put your music player on shuffle and write the first 3 songs that play and what is your initial thought.
- Beautiful Life – Nick Fradiani Nick was last year’s American Idol winner. Honestly, I was getting bored with the show, and although we watched the episodes, I was ready to say goodbye. I liked Nick from the beginning. I thought he was cute and a good singer. As the season progressed, I felt like the show was going in the same direction it always does, molding a contestant to be a winner. Beautiful Life was his winner’s song and from first listen, I loved it. Right now my iTunes music is full of upbeat, running songs and this one is definitely played often and on repeat. Also, I love the message and lyrics to this song. “Gives us just one perfect night to say, oh what a beautiful life!” That we as humans should live one day at a time enjoying all that life has to offer. It’s an incredible feeling and when I’m running, I definitely feel I’m living a beautiful life. Video here: Nick Fradiani – Beautiful Life
- Sun Don’t Let Me Down – Keith Urban (Featuring Nile Rodgers and Pitbull) This song is on Keith’s new album Ripcord, and I’m loving it! I’m a huge Keith fan and my iTunes is full of many Keith songs. This is a great upbeat, running song as well. I know a lot of people criticize today’s country songs saying that they are not the same as they were 20 years ago. I don’t fret about it. I like country music from every decade and I love music that is great to dance to and to sing along with. This song fits both perfectly. Video here: Keith Urban – Sun Don’t Let Me Down
- You’ll Think of Me – Keith Urban Once again, another Keith song pops up. I love this song. Released in 2014, it’s still one I won’t remove. I don’t have many slower tempo songs on my iTunes, but this one I just can’t delete. It’s one of my favorites and such a beautiful song. The video also reminds us of what Keith looked like with the longer hair. Video here: Keith Urban – You’ll Think of Me
So those are the 3 songs that popped up. Want me to review any other songs, just let me know. At the moment, I have 193 songs on my playlist, but I’m always adding and deleting.
Until next week.
A few weeks ago, my cousin Jacquie shared a 30-day writing challenge. I loved it. I thought it would be a great way to share more about me and to help become a better writer. So, I’ve decided to turn the challenge into a weekly feature. Every Wednesday, I’ll pick a prompt at random and share. If you love the idea, go ahead and snag. Share your blog post in the comments, as I’d love to get to know more about my readers too. If the challenge has a strike-through, I’ve already picked that number.
The list and the first entry are behind the cut.
Today, June 1, 2016, has been declared Global Runners Day. According to their website, Global Running Day is a day for people around the world to celebrate the joys of running. Participation is easy—just pledge to take part in some type of running activity on June 1, 2016. It can be a solo lap around the block, a long run with friends, or even a game of tag with your kids. The key is to share your passion for the sport and inspire others to get moving.
This morning, I scrolled through Facebook, Snapchat and then Instagram before I finally decided to get out of bed. Isn’t that half the battle?? Just getting up, getting dressed and out the door. There are moments when I truly love running and then there are moments when I don’t. June, in Arizona, is hot! If you don’t get up at the crack of dawn, like 5:30am, you will sweat and then with the sun bearing down on you at 7am is very warm. Well, being the procrastinator that I am, that’s when I headed out the door. I ran a quick, well not so quick, 3 plus miles. Felt good to be out there knowing that people all over the world were running and celebrating this fantastic day.
This past week we celebrated 3 birthdays in our family. My oldest, Caroline wanted to see a movie for her birthday, which leads me to a review of Money Monster. According to IMDB, the real-time, high stakes thriller stars George Clooney as financial TV host Lee Gates and his producer Patty, portrayed by Julia Roberts. They are put in an extreme situation when an irate investor who has lost everything (Jack O’Connell) forcefully takes over their studio. During a tense standoff broadcast to millions on live TV, Lee and Patty must work furiously against the clock to unravel the mystery behind a conspiracy at the heart of today’s fast-paced, high-tech global markets.
I had seen the trailer for this movie and thought it looked really suspenseful and exciting and it was a little bit. It was a short 90 minutes long which helped move the story along. There were some comedic moments from Clooney’s character hosting the live tv show and I really enjoyed the chemistry between Clooney and Roberts. I also loved Jack O’Connell’s portrayal of Kyle Budwell, the investor who lost everything. Unfortunately, the stock market has never really interested me, therefore, the movie was just good. I would definitely recommend it as a rental or a freebie from Redbox, but not one I’d watch again or purchase.
Trailer below the cut.
Microblog Mondays #7
Today’s Microblog Monday is about house cleaning. During the Summer, I love to tackle new projects around the house. I wish I was handy with a hammer, but my Summer cleaning involves linen closets, the master bedroom and bathroom, and organizing the upstairs game room. As I look around my home, I can visualize the changes I want. Hardwood floors where there is carpet, french doors leading out to a beautiful backyard, and art on the walls that reflect our family and my style. The colors in my dream palette are navy, cream and brown. I’m excited to share on this blog all the exciting changes to come. What style do you enjoy? Right now I’m loving anything Joanna Gaines reveals on Fixer Upper. I just adore that show and her style. I’ll be sharing a blog post soon sharing my favorite pieces from her new furniture line located online at Nebraska Furniture Art. Check it out here.
I’ve mentioned before what a TV junkie I am and last week I was in heaven. Every May, the networks release their fall/winter schedules and what tv pilots have been chosen to air and what shows will be cancelled. That event is called the Upfronts. During the week, each network is given a day to update and share the information. Most of the shows listed on the new schedule I’ve been watching, some for a few years now and will continue to watch, others I might have started watching, but since I’ve become bored with and stop. I try and watch the majority of the fall pilots, but sadly, the last few years I haven’t been impressed. We will see what’s in store for the new season. I am excited about a couple shows such as the Prison Break reboot and This is Us starring Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia. TVline.com has released a full schedule at their site. The link is here. As of right now, behind the cut is my schedule for fall television:
I’ve been trying to come up with exciting and interesting topics to post on my blog. I live in a fairly small town in AZ and because of that, we are limited in activities. One of my favorite past times is watching movies. New movies, classic movies, 80s movies, etc. Just name a genre and I’m up for it. I normally chose a romantic comedy, but I’m not picky. Last weeks family choice was Captain America: Civil War.
I love Marvel movies. On any given day I will change who my favorite Avenger is. One day it will be The Hulk simply because I love Mark Ruffalo, but Ironman portrayed by Robert Downey, Jr. follows as a close 2nd. My family definitely enjoyed the movie. I was entertained and left the theater excited and sad. Sad because I don’t want my Avengers fighting each other, and at times I was torn on which side I was on and excited because how amazing was The Black Panther? I’ve been a huge Chadwick Boseman fan for years and to finally see his talent appreciated is wonderful. I’m so excited for The Black Panther movie (2018) and I did enjoy Peter Parker portrayed by Tom Holland. That movie will be released July 2017. So many great movies to look forward to. I give this movie a 3/4 star rating. It was a 2-hour movie, but definitely, one to watch again. A bit of advice, stay for 2 post credit extras. (graphic by screencapped.net)
Microblog Mondays #6
This week’s Microblog Mondays is an apology. Life has definitely been crazy the last few weeks, so I haven’t had a moment to post. I’ve started many entries, just haven’t completed them or hit send. I’m hoping to start with a plan and keep you updated as often as I can. Summer time in our house can be pretty boring. We catch up on tv shows, go to the movies, clean, etc. Nothing exciting. There have been times we would travel to Texas and visit family, but this year that isn’t possible. It breaks my heart and I miss my family dearly, but right now we really need to concentrate on paying off some credit cards and getting ahead for the fall and winter. I’m happy to report that I will now be working full-time for the school district beginning in August and I’m so excited to start furnishing other rooms in our house, sign up for more races and to start paying off bills. It’s a spectacular feeling. We have been a single income family for years and it will be wonderful to start helping and doing my part. So be on the lookout for new entries and exciting shares.
Microblog Mondays #5
YAY it’s May!! This is my favorite month of the year. It marks my birthday month, the end of the school year and the beginning of Summer! It’s that time of the year I can start planning my summer vacation, start that lists of cleaning projects for the house and catch up on television shows I’m behind on. This year marks my 46th birthday. Since turning 40, my life has changed dramatically. I am no longer chasing little children around the house, their activities have taken up all my time and I’m loving it. It also has been the decade I’ve decided to treat myself. I began to analyze my life and decided enough was enough. I was not living or eating healthy and exercise was non-existent in my life. Since then I’ve started running, met some amazing people and I graduated community college. I’m so excited for what is ahead for year 46 and I’m super thrilled I get to share it with all of you.
Finally I remember a Microblog Monday. So excited!! Here we go!!
