My year in review of all things movies, music, books, and live shows. Here is my Scrapbook of 2016.
My absolute favorite movies of the year are in bold. They may not all win Oscars, but I either loved the movie so much I’d want to own it, watch it over again or the company was perfection.
1. Creed (2015)
2. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip (2015)
3. The Vanishing (1993)
4. Boyhood (2014)
5. Daddy’s Home (2015)
6. Grease Live (2016)
7. 22 Jump Street (2014)
8. The Choice (2016)
9. Race (2016)
10. Jem and the Holograms (2015)
Happy Fourth of July to you and to America! I hope you had a wonderful day spent with family or friends. Since we moved away from Texas almost 11 years ago, we have developed traditions for our family. When we’re not able to visit home and we stay in AZ for the 4th, we usually go to the community pool, my husband will cook some fantastic barbeque and then we go to the city park for running races, watermelon contests, sno-cones, and fireworks.
Unfortunately, we spent more time at the pool this afternoon than we planned, so we were running late to the park. Missed most of the running races and the contests, but we still had a great time! A few photos from our evening under the read more break.
A bucket list by definition is a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime. In my 46 years on this Earth, various decisions I’ve made have allowed me to travel to some amazing places, but sadly only in the US. I’d love someday to venture out to see what this wonderful world has to offer. #1 on my list would definitely be NYC. I’ve dreamed of that trip since I was a sophomore in high school and my friend Blair and I would religiously look over the map of NYC and plan our destinations based on wherever Duran Duran had been spotted. Flash forward to now, and i’m still dreaming of that NYC trip. I have so many places written down that i’d love to visit and experience, i’m not sure it would all come true in one trip. But that doesn’t mean I should stop dreaming. One day..one day.
The image above was taken from a blog titled Blog.Bucketlist.org. The blog offers amazing bucket list ideas to add to your own personal list, dealing with travel, music and fitness which all could be exciting. Check out the site and then make your own list. It is the beginning of a new year. Perfect time to write a list. Here is mine, for now. I’m sure more amazing places and ideas will be added later.
Seriously, though, my whole life, from as far back as I can remember, I would sit in front of the TV, excited to watch my favorite shows. As I entered my twenties, teen shows such as Beverly Hills 90210 entered the scene. It was the first time I remember falling in love and rooting for a couple (Brenda/Dylan all the way!) and thus, my love of TV exploded to a whole new deeper level. Then, a show about aliens in a high school aired and my life as I knew it was over. That show was Roswell. It premiered October 6, 1999 and within the first 5 minutes of the Pilot episode airing my life changed. I would rush home to video tape the episodes, spend hours upon hours on Ebay trying to win memorabilia from the show, attend Roswell conventions in Los Angeles and spend hours on blog forums chatting with fellow show Dreamers and Candygirls just like myself.
Flash forward and my life hasn’t changed much. Now, with the evolved use of the DVR, so many shows are recorded and watched at a later time. Each year, I check out all the new pilots and figure out which ones to add to my schedule. It’s a strange and wonderful feeling and experience I share with my mother. I really have her to thank for the many blessings watching television has brought me. From meeting the most amazing people in this world, to meeting celebrities, life really has been one amazing TV roller coaster of twists and turns.
Here is a list of the shows I’m currently watching. If you have any questions, want reviews or just want to chat about any of them, shoot me an email or post in the comments! I’d love to connect with others who watch the same shows I do. More to be added later. Yes, I am a TV Junkie!!
