Today’s MM is about exercising and eating healthy. As round 2 of The Tone It Up Bikini Series begins, my goal is to complete the challenge eating 90/10, instead of the 80/20 I do now. At 46, I don’t feel that eating 3 cookies at one sitting, or a huge bowl of ice cream are going to work. I want to feel healthy, look healthy and be healthy. Saying that out loud is easy, doing the work is hard. Even though it’s been crazy hot, I’ve been trying to continue with my running. Since my daughter and I joined Planet Fitness, we have been trying to go at least 3 days a week. It’s awesome! I’m definitely seeing minor changes and I can’t wait to witness the day to day progress. Eating healthy is not easy for me. Living in a house with 7 people, I’m realizing our schedules and eating habits are never the same. I have been trying to incorporate more chicken and fish along with vegetables and fruit into our eating plan, but overall I am just not making the time to plan. As of August, I’ll be working full time. Meal planning and meal prepping are definitely going to help, just with motivation and preparation, I hope my 90/10 will continue long after the Round 2 program is over.

Tonight’s MM is just a little blurb to let you guys know that today,  I booked my trip to Texas.  11 wonderful days in my hometown to visit my mom. I’m so excited!  Moving away from home and from my mom 10 years ago has not been easy on either of us.  To be able to spend some quality time with her will be special. I haven’t mentioned it on the blog, but my mom was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis several years ago.  I feel like each time I go home the moments  are special and sadly the visits don’t happen as often as I’d like, so I hope to make this visit as special as I can.  It is always hard to leave my family, and usually, they do go with me, but with school activities and with my youngest in competitive gymnastics, leaving for that many days isn’t possible now. I hope to visit as a family at Christmastime in late 2016.  This summer is flying by. When I come home from Texas, the kids will start school in 7 days. Crazy, right?? I hope to make the rest of our summer exciting and fun-filled.

Today’s Microblog Monday is about house cleaning. During the Summer, I love to tackle new projects around the house. I wish I was handy with a hammer, but my Summer cleaning involves linen closets, the master bedroom and bathroom, and organizing the upstairs game room. As I look around my home, I can visualize the changes I want. Hardwood floors where there is carpet, french doors leading out to a beautiful backyard, and art on the walls that reflect our family and my style. The colors in my dream palette are navy, cream and brown. I’m excited to share on this blog all the exciting changes to come. What style do you enjoy? Right now I’m loving anything Joanna Gaines reveals on Fixer Upper. I just adore that show and her style. I’ll be sharing a blog post soon sharing my favorite pieces from her new furniture line located online at Nebraska Furniture Art. Check it out here.

Microblog Mondays #6

This week’s Microblog Mondays is an apology. Life has definitely been crazy the last few weeks, so I haven’t had a moment to post. I’ve started many entries, just haven’t completed them or hit send. I’m hoping to start with a plan and keep you updated as often as I can. Summer time in our house can be pretty boring. We catch up on tv shows, go to the movies, clean, etc. Nothing exciting. There have been times we would travel to Texas and visit family, but this year that isn’t possible. It breaks my heart and I miss my family dearly, but right now we really need to concentrate on paying off some credit cards and getting ahead for the fall and winter. I’m happy to report that I will now be working full-time for the school district beginning in August and I’m so excited to start furnishing other rooms in our house, sign up for more races and to start paying off bills. It’s a spectacular feeling. We have been a single income family for years and it will be wonderful to start helping and doing my part. So be on the lookout for new entries and exciting shares.

YAY it’s May!! This is my favorite month of the year. It marks my birthday month, the end of the school year and the beginning of Summer! It’s that time of the year I can start planning my summer vacation, start that lists of cleaning projects for the house and catch up on television shows I’m behind on. This year marks my 46th birthday. Since turning 40, my life has changed dramatically. I am no longer chasing little children around the house, their activities have taken up all my time and I’m loving it. It also has been the decade I’ve decided to treat myself. I began to analyze my life and decided enough was enough. I was not living or eating healthy and exercise was non-existent in my life. Since then I’ve started running, met some amazing people and I graduated community college. I’m so excited for what is ahead for year 46 and I’m super thrilled I get to share it with all of you.

Microblog Mondays #4

Today is a great day! Do you know why?? Well, today is Day 1 of the Tone It Up Bikini Series. I’m bursting with energy and excitement because today is the day millions of women are working on their fitness and feeling great! The Bikini Series is an 8 week challenge that incorporates working out, eating healthy and changing your day to day life for the better. I completed this challenge last year and lost 12 pounds, but I gained much more. I gained new friendships, more confidence in myself and more excitement about my future. Here we go with round 2. If you’ve never heard of Tone It Up I definitely recommend you check out the website (link on the sidebar of this blog) and following their Instagram for motivation and updates. It’s going to be a wild ride.

Today’s Microblog Mondays is about one of my all time favorite tv shows, The OC which aired on FOX 2003-2007.  The series centers around Ryan Atwood, a guy from the wrong side of the tracks, after being adopted by the wealthy Sandy Cohen, ends up living and mixing with the rich citizens of Orange County, California.

I remember falling in love with this show and its’ star Benjamin McKenzie at first glance. It’s premiering today on POPtv from the beginning. Here’s your chance to move in to the pool house and find out what Chrismukkah, the Fab Four and indie music is all about.

Check POPtv for the times it airs in your town.

Microblog Mondays #2

This MM (a day late) will be about being okay with not being perfect, especially when it comes to not finishing a project, a blog post, etc. So many times in my life I get up, mess up and start over. Why is that? Why can’t I just finish a project, a post, a run program, etc? Life. Laziness. Probably a combination of both. Sometimes you wake up with the best of intentions, but then a doughnut gets in the way of a weight loss journey; a filled DVR gets in the way of a run and any excuse causes a crash course in destruction of life. Right now I’m in the middle of a half marathon program and to be honest, I’ve started this program 3 times. Last week, I messed up Week 5. I barely ran and feel horrible. I want to start over. I want to go back to week one and start over, but then something inside me says “No!! Don’t stop!! Keep going!!” Then, fear takes over. Am I really going to run the miles it’s asking? Or am I really just afraid of making it to the end?? I hope I finish. Maybe this will be the motivation to finish something I’ve worked hard for. I hope so. I hope that whatever you are giving up on you continue that journey and fight to the finish. It’s not easy, but oh can it be rewarding.

Microblog Mondays

Microblog_MondaysThis morning, I stumbled across a blogger, Mel. Each Monday, she “microblogs” an entry. An entry on whatever subject she feels like sharing. Maybe an insight she wants to share or just some out of the blue thought that might be interesting to her readers. A microblog. A one word or 8 lines entry that is all your own. Each week we post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. but do we really own those thoughts?? By microblogging in your own space, it’s out there, out there for you to embrace and cherish for a lifetime or as long as your blog lives on the net. I think this is a wonderful idea and an experience I will gladly partake in each and every Monday.

Today’s entry is about my daily job. Monday through Friday, for two hours out of the day, I work at a local elementary school. I remember when I was young, playing school was the best part of my day. Thinking when I grew up, being a teacher would be my every day job. I used to daydream about how awesome it would be to buy the coolest smelly stickers and put them on my students work. My life took a much different turn than I expected and although I haven’t finished college, my daily job doesn’t consists of that type of fun. I do help out in the cafeteria and with the kindergarten and 5th grade classes outside. It’s the brightest part of my day filled with challenges and fulfillment. Each day I witness such creative minds tackle those important lessons like sharing, tying their shoelaces, opening a carton of milk to the 5th graders trying to get along in a game of tag, football or tether ball. I love greeting them each day and the not knowing how my day is going to go excites me to get ready and be at work on time. I’m so grateful for my job and the daily lessons I learn. Patience, understanding, gratitude and happiness. So, here’s a thumbs up to all the school employees at PV. You make my day so wonderful and I’m in awe of what a fantastic job you are doing with the future of tomorrow.
