Movie Review – Money Monster

tumblr_o43eqdGCw61qej1i6o1_540This past week we celebrated 3 birthdays in our family. My oldest, Caroline wanted to see a movie for her birthday, which leads me to a review of Money Monster.  According to IMDB, the real-time, high stakes thriller stars George Clooney as financial TV host Lee Gates and his producer Patty, portrayed by Julia Roberts. They are put in an extreme situation when an irate investor who has lost everything (Jack O’Connell) forcefully takes over their studio. During a tense standoff broadcast to millions on live TV, Lee and Patty must work furiously against the clock to unravel the mystery behind a conspiracy at the heart of today’s fast-paced, high-tech global markets.

I had seen the trailer for this movie and thought it looked really suspenseful and exciting and it was a little bit. It was a short 90 minutes long which helped move the story along. There were some comedic moments from Clooney’s character hosting the live tv show and I really enjoyed the chemistry between Clooney and Roberts.  I also loved Jack O’Connell’s portrayal of Kyle Budwell, the investor who lost everything. Unfortunately, the stock market has never really interested me, therefore, the movie was just good. I would definitely recommend it as a rental or a freebie from Redbox, but not one I’d watch again or purchase.

Trailer below the cut.

Fall TV Schedule

cute-TVI’ve mentioned before what a TV junkie I am and last week I was in heaven. Every May, the networks release their fall/winter schedules and what tv pilots have been chosen to air and what shows will be cancelled.  That event is called the Upfronts. During the week, each network is given a day to update and share the information. Most of the shows listed on the new schedule I’ve been watching, some for a few years now and will continue to watch, others I might have started watching, but since I’ve become bored with and stop. I try and watch the majority of the fall pilots, but sadly, the last few years I haven’t been impressed. We will see what’s in store for the new season. I am excited about a couple shows such as the Prison Break reboot and This is Us starring Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia. has released a full schedule at their site. The link is here.  As of right now, behind the cut is my schedule for fall television:

Movie Review – Captain America Winter’s War

I’ve been trying to come up with exciting and interesting topics to post on my blog. I live in a fairly small town in AZ and because of that, we are limited in activities. One of my favorite past times is watching movies. New movies, classic movies, 80s movies, etc. Just name a genre and I’m up for it. I normally chose a romantic comedy, but I’m not picky. Last weeks family choice was Captain America: Civil War.

I love Marvel movies. On any given day I will change who my favorite Avenger is. One day it will be The Hulk simply because I love Mark Ruffalo, but Ironman portrayed by Robert Downey, Jr. follows as a close 2nd. My family definitely enjoyed the movie. I was entertained and left the theater excited and sad. Sad because I don’t want my Avengers fighting each other, and at times I was torn on which side I was on and excited because how amazing was The Black Panther?  I’ve been a huge Chadwick Boseman fan for years and to finally see his talent appreciated is wonderful. I’m so excited for The Black Panther movie (2018) and I did enjoy Peter Parker portrayed by Tom Holland. That movie will be released July 2017. So many great movies to look forward to.  I give this movie a 3/4 star rating. It was a 2-hour movie, but definitely, one to watch again. A bit of advice, stay for 2 post credit extras.  (graphic by
